Homer Laughlin House "Parts" on Ebay

I'll be boycotting Ebay (so don't sell ANYTHING good that might tempt me!) between 2/18/08 - 2/25/08. If you're not up on the what's happening over there, click on this news article: LINK. Instead, I'll be blowing my paycheck over at Etsy.com (another addiction I should promote more often). I've now got the Fiance Etsy-obsessed. Hurrah! I wonder if he remembers shopping on Etsy for the pillow I demanded, I mean graciously requested for my birthday last year?

In anticipation of the 2/18/08 deadline for my Ebay boycott, I'm sort of freebasing with abandon over there. Homer Laughlin's (of pottery/dishware fame) house "parts" are on Ebay. The house/parts are in Ohio. Here's a link to the Homer Laughlin collector's club, just cause...

Looks like the house may have been used as a bar for the last few years. Some of the architectural elements inside...will make you squeal. Check it out: LINK The seller can provide you with more pics on a cd.

OK, so while I'm on the Ebay boycott thing (look at me being all take-a-stand-ish) I should also mention that I've formed a NYC CRF (Renal Failure) Kitty group on MeetUp.com. If you're interested in joining. There's a link on the left side of the blog or you can click HERE. Meetup.com meetings tend to flake out and fizzle and the membership was expensive - so I only paid for a 3-month term. Will see how it goes. Worth a shot! The Fiance, Tal and I are meeting with potential kitty-sitter #4 (or is it 5?) tonight. Wish us luck!

Sigh, I hesitate to give this up...especially with the prospect of eBay down for a few painful days...but here's a great plate resource:

I must've missed something. Taj has renal failure? Sorry to hear that.

On the salvage front: I thought a road trip to Ohio would be nice until I saw the $75k price sticker.

Yeah, she was diagnosed in August. We can't find a petsitter that can do her fluid injections AND show up. The guy scheduled for tonight rescheduled for Wednesday. Not a good sign.

In the days BEFORE Ebay (remember them?) I used to travel out to Ohio once or twice a year when I could grab a $99 roundtrip airfare and buy boxes and boxes and boxes of pottery (mostly McCoy) that I would ship back and sell to the antique dealers downtown. Ahhh, those were the days...back when I could get a piece of McCoy for $1. There was a woman who used to work at the McCoy factory that had a thrift shop, she had the SIGN that as on the factory but she wanted like $60 for it so I passed. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

We've been through 4 petsitters since moving to Beacon and we're looking for another one again. Have you tried your vet/other vets and local animal shelters? There may be a technician looking to earn some extra $.
